The Facts

Give Hope began helping children in our community in 2001. The Foundation received its 501(c)(3) exemption status in 2005, and provides immediate financial assistance to families in Northern Nevada who have children battling a devastating or catastrophic illness.

Formed to fulfill a need in the Northern Nevada Community which was unmet by other local organizations, our focus is on the families and children, not limited to a specific disease.To date, the Give Hope Foundation has assisted over 275 families and has distributed over $450,000. Our unique mission allows us to pay families expenses, such as utilities, uncovered medical expenses, travel expenses related to out of state treatment, rent/mortgage payments, and other expenses necessary to maintain the home for the child. In addition, we work alongside other local charities that focus on a single illness and as a result, we are able to fill in the gaps that other organizations cannot fulfill.

One important fact to note is that Northern Nevada does not have a local pediatric cancer specialist and ALL pediatric cancer patients must travel out of state for treatment. We are one of the few organizations that can help these families cover travel, food and hotel expenses during treatment. Currently our organization is fully staffed by volunteers, which minimizes our administrative expenses (less than 1% of funds raised) and allows us to distribute the majority of our funds to families here in Northern Nevada.
